What to see in Dąbki - a guide to the spa's attractions
Lake Bukowo, a wide, Blue Flag beach, the Water Sports Center, and the Słowińskie Błota Nature Reserve. The most important attractions of this seaside resort in the Darłowo commune.
Dąbki is a seaside resort in the Darłowo commune, situated on a narrow spit separating the Baltic Sea from Lake Bukowo. The proximity of two bodies of water—a saltwater sea and a freshwater lake—gives the town much more than just beach time. Dąbki earned its spa status in 2007 thanks to its unique, iodine-rich microclimate.
Lake Bukowo - the heart of the town
Lake Bukowo is a former bay, cut off from the Baltic Sea by a sandbar and connected to it by the Szczytno Canal. This shallow (depth of no more than three meters) and windy body of water is considered one of the best places in Poland for windsurfing and kitesurfing. During the season, dozens of colorful sails float above the water, and schools and equipment rentals operate on the shore.
Blue Flag Beach
A wide, sandy beach with a gentle slope into the water stretches along the entire length of the town. In 2020, the local swimming area received the international Blue Flag certificate, awarded for water purity, safety, and good organization. During the summer, marked swimming areas are supervised by lifeguards.
Water Sports Center
Lake Bukowo boasts a Water Sports Center offering windsurfing and sailing courses, as well as kayak, pedal boat, and stand-up paddleboard rentals. There's also a marina, and during the season, a small cruise ship plies the lake.
What else is worth seeing?
- Słowińskie Błota Reserve – established in 2005, the best-preserved Baltic-type raised bog in Poland, with a nature trail.
- A rope park in a coastal forest by a lake – an attraction for families and lovers of heights.
- Walking and cycling paths around the lake and through the pine forest.
- Darłowo and Darłówko (approx. 10 km) — Gothic castle of the Pomeranian dukes, fishing port and marinas.
Dąbki is a destination for those seeking not only a beach but also activities by the sea: windsurfing, kayaking, cycling, and contact with nature. All this in the soothing, healing microclimate of a spa town.
